Rabbi Josh Weisberg,
born to a German Catholic mother and an atheist Jewish American father was raised in a Reform Jewish community in Canada. “My people took so many Jewish children, I wanted to give a few back,” his mother explained to him.
At eighteen, in Israel to volunteer on a kibbutz and learn Hebrew, Josh fell in love with the Land and the people of Israel.
After studying at Wesleyan University in the US, in 1991 Josh returned to build a life for himself in Israel. He enrolled in an Israeli yeshiva in order to deepen his knowledge and understanding of Jewish tradition. After undergoing an Orthodox conversion, Josh began a 30 year quest for wisdom, authenticity and meaning through intense study (and impassioned teaching) of the Talmud and Jewish mysticism.
Rabbi Josh has taught Talmud and Chassidic thought for 25 years at Nishmat: The Jeanie Schottenstein Center for Advanced Torah Study for Women. He is also a professional chef, a licensed Israeli tour guide, a skilled photographer and a popular international lecturer.
Rabbi Josh and his wife of 28 years, Chana Jenny (JewishMOM.com), live in Jerusalem and are the parents of eight children.
“Chef Rabbi Josh” is a home-hospitality business. Rabbi Josh hosts groups in his home for an exquisite meal and a fascinating conversation and talk about Rabbi Josh’s personal story and inspiring, eye-opening insights from the Jewish intellectual/spiritual tradition.
Rabbi Josh is an Orthodox Jew with friends and colleagues from many different faiths from around the world.
